The communal institution "Kherson Basic Medical Professional College" of the Kherson Regional Council is one of the oldest medical educational institutions in the south of Ukraine. It was founded on October 2, 1872 as the Kherson Zemstvo Medical Assistant School. For 150 years of existence, more than 52, 000 healthcare specialists have been trained in the educational institution.
Since 1978, the college has been training students with hearing impairments in the educational and professional program "Prosthetic Dentistry." During this period about 1, 000 disabled persons received the qualification of a dental technician.
In 2008, the college established a postgraduate education department, which provides advanced training, specialization for junior medical and pharmaceutical specialists with a licensed capacity of 2,500 people per year.
Kherson Basic Medical Professional College trains professional junior bachelors in the following specialities:
221 "Stomatology" - a licensed capacity of 100 people, including training in educational and professional programs Dentistry (dental hygienist) and Prosthetic Dentistry (dental technician);
223 "Nursing" - a licensed capacity of 240 people, including training in educational and professional programs Medical Care (doctor`s assistant), Nursing (nurse), Obstetrics (midwife);
224 "Technologies of medical diagnostics and treatment" - licensed capacity of 35 people, including training in the educational and professional program Laboratory Diagnostics (laboratory assistant (medicine));
226 "Pharmacy, industrial pharmacy" - licensed capacity of 90 people, including training in the educational and professional program Pharmacy (full-time and part-time).
The college has about 1000 students.
The educational institution has a modern material and technical base: an educational building with 56 classrooms and laboratories, 15 classrooms at the bases of healthcare institutions, an indoor gym, a sport ground and a student`s hostel.
33 healthcare facilities in the city and region serve as practice for college students.
The language of the educational process at Kherson Basic Medical Professional College is the state (Ukrainian) language.
The educational institution is not licensed to provide educational services to foreigners.
